The Chinese Consulate in Australia recently issued a notice to adjust the visa policy for traveling to China, cancel the appointment measure and exempt fingerprint collection under certain conditions. The following are the details:

Fingerprint exemption policy for visa application to China in Australia

According to the latest arrangement, eligible applicants for business (M), tourist (L), visiting relatives (Q2), transit (G), and crew (C) Chinese visas can be exempted from fingerprint collection at the Consulate General in Sydney until December 31, 2024 (inclusive). This policy is for applicants who enter the country once or twice to improve convenience.

Australian visa fees for China

In order to facilitate the exchange of personnel between China and foreign countries, from December 11, 2023 to December 31, 2024, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Australia will reduce the visa fees for foreigners traveling to China (excluding express and expedited fees). For visa applications processed before 0:00 on December 11, 2023, the original fees will still be charged.

Australia cancels appointments for visa applications to China

From December 11, 2023, the Consulate General in Sydney will officially cancel the relevant measures for foreigners to make appointments to apply for visas to China. Applicants can fill in the visa application form online through the Sydney Chinese Visa Application Service Center website and submit the application with relevant materials on working days without making an appointment in advance.
